Waaaay into the future. This is our 5 year plan. The previous post shows the current layout (minus where I'd like to add a foyer locker area) of our house. This one shows how I'd like to remodel our home. Is there anything that any of my friends would do different?
This is a general layout of our property. With the exception of the little inkspots near the road at the top of the picture, all of the black spots are trees. After I put a fence up, I'd change my driveway so that the one on the right would circle around the 2 trees and go back out the same way you come in.

That looks great. My only issue would be you would have to make sure the kitchen was pretty tidy. Since it would be the main room people enter when coming in. I do like the plan though.
Could you make more of a hall there by the dining table so that there would just be an arched entry into the kitchen or something. Just a thought.
Right now the entry that you are referring to is my main entryway. However, I'd like to fence that portion of my yard off with a 6ft privacy fence. I think once I did that it would force visitors to use the living room door. My livingroom is generally clean but does have the children's toys scattered and the occasional loveseat filled with clean laundry. I could certainly live with people seeing a room that is not dirty, but definitely lived in.
Right, I am not saying that the house has to be super clean. If you came to my house you would see the same situations.
The cross hatched part in the bottom left corner is the porch? I am sorry I thought the main entry was the one off the dining room. Is the one off the dining room to the back patio?
I couldn't really add an arch there if I wanna keep my really long table (and I do).
You are correct, right now that door by the table in the picture is my main entryway as of right now and it is the door that is facing the road.
Yes, that cross hatched part is the porch/deck that I WANT to build. We do have the French doors, but we don't even have steps for that door yet. We will probably start with a 4x8 decking off the Frenchdoor first, but I would really like to have that huge porch/deck for family get togethers. You know, I'm looking way into the future when I have 15 or more grandchildren along with all of my children and their spouses for holidays and after-church dinners.
I think that is a great idea.
